I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves in August of 2006 and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC for recruit training January 2007. Following my graduation from training in April of the same year, I then reported to Camp Johnson, NC for Marine Combat Training and then to Basic Landing Support School aboard Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC. Upon completion of that school I was given the military occupation specialty of Landing Support Specialist (0481). June 30, 2007 I reported to my current reserve duty station, Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, GA. July 1, 2007 I was promoted to Private First Class, but didn’t really develop as a Marine until my promotion to Lance Corporal March 2008. That same summer I reported to Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO., to conduct helicopter and external load operations with the U.S. Army where I served as a safety supervisor to senior enlisted personnel. Following the 15 days of training there my next out of country experience was to Souda Bay, Crete, Greece in September of 2009. There I helped supervise the uploading and downloading of cargo, personnel and supplies in support of a Maritime Pre-positioning Force. In April of 2010 I was called to active duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and deployed to Afghanistan. There I served as a control center chief and contributed to the safe arrival and departure of over 150 flights, several hundred tons of cargo and multiple casualty evacuations. Though I deployed as a part of Combat Logistics Battalion 2 (CLB 2), I was attached to separate units in the Kajaki District of the Helmand Province and assisted with their logistical support. Upon completion of my tour of duty all members of my detachment to Kajaki Dam were award Certificates of Commendation for our professionalism and expertise in our specific fields. In July of 2011 I was promoted to the rank of Corporal, a non-commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps currently serving as a squad leader, education NCO and senior corporal in my platoon. From June 2014 until December 2014 I was assigned to Jacksonville AAV unit as the Supply Sergeant serving as the reserve counterpart to the active duty sergeant. June 30, 2015 I was Honorably Discharged from the United States Marine Corps following nine years of service.
Awards include: Navy Unit Commendation, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Certificate of Commendation and (2) Letters of Appreciation.
